“WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?” Jacques says whilst laughing looking at the pregnancy test.
I’m laughing out loud now and looking at Jacques whilst he is sitting on the loo!
“IT’S POSITIVE!!” I say continuing to laugh.
“YEAH BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?” He says again!
“IT MEANS IM PREGNANT!” I shout.
Even though we had been trying for the past 3 months, I still couldn't quite believe it.
We both continue to look at each other giggling. I feel happy, shocked, buzzing! But now what????!!!
“SO DO I NEED TO DO ANOTHER ONE?” I say.
Jacques response, “I DONT KNOW” Whilst laughing still.
I had always been told that you can get a false negative test but not a false positive. So... that means I am officially pregnant right?!
Over that past week leading up to doing the test I had bundles of energy, I found myself getting in from work and spring cleaning everywhere, creating space, I had no idea why? - and then wallop - the news is in! I am pregnant!
From that moment I found out I was pregnant I felt myself being extra cautious on everything! Like cleaning my hands all of the time, not wanting to eat ANYTHING remotely unhealthy! My diet has always been pretty good and balanced with the odd treat. But this was being extra careful in putting things in my mouth! It was a weird feeling!
I actually did a further two tests just to be sure, lol and yep they were positive!
At this point I was working as a full time Police Officer 👮♀️my Personal Training and Online Coaching has been built up on the side of this. I had to tell work the news when I next went in as they have to put measures in place for me and restrict my duties if need be - I couldn’t not. I already felt myself act differently now knowing that I had a human growing inside of me! I was actually around 4/5 weeks when I found out.
I always had heard people talking about morning sickness but thought that’d be the first signs of being pregnant, but for me, I actually felt great when I found out! At that point I didn’t even think whether it’d hit me... oh boy, how wrong was I?! 😬
Around 1 week later it started! One morning I literally felt like utter shit on waking up. I felt sick, felt dizzy, felt hungry. My body does this really weird thing when I feel sick through being hungry, my body makes me sneeze and the sickness feeling stops for a minute! It is an actual thing - I even googled it once haha! But basically I had to eat there and then! I remember eating my oats that morning whilst lying down on the sofa with my head on the cushion, I felt that bad! I had to be in work by 8am ... the thought of getting up and getting ready was making me feel even worse. Worrying about being late and what work was going to say! I closed my eyes and around 30 minutes later my body had started feeling the food I had eaten and I perked up a little. I got my self ready for work slowly and managed to make it in!
To tackle this morning sickness, I tried the whole eating ginger nuts in bed LOL... but that didn't really work and its not the healthiest thing to be doing stuffing ginger nuts in your mouth first thing, so I had a pregnancy Smoothie with all ingredients to help with the nausea, this was made up in the fridge the night before which consisted of:
1 x Banana
1-cm Ginger
1 tsp Honey
200ml Unsweetened almond milk
1 large tbsp Greek Yoghurt
1 tsp Flaxseed
Small handful of Spinach
If you are pregnant and suffering from morning sickness, give this a try.
Jacques would pass me this really early doors about 5.30am, before I got up. I would then drink this and let my stomach settle then get up about half hour later. I would then have to have more food to make me feel better. The slightest bit of me feeling hungry would set my nausea off, so I had to keep grazing all day!!
That first trimester I really struggled with food aversions. I would take food to work as I would normally, but I couldn't stomach it. I would fancy something totally different - mini cheddars being one! I craved carbs! All of the time! I just went with it, if I didn't fancy something I just didn't force myself to eat it. Tuning into your body when you're pregnant is so important.
As I craved carbs, I ate more carbs than normal. Although, I did then start to get bloating, trapped wind, I was tired, lacked energy, my clothes started feeling tight, I felt uncomfortable. This was due to hormones aswell being all over the place and my diet.
I actually was unsure on how to train through pregnancy at this time, so it was at this point I decided to take on my Pre and Post Natal coaching certification. I am so glad I did as it was the best decision I could have made. All of a sudden I felt more in control of my pregnancy knowing exactly what my body was going through and how to exercise safely through this amazing transformation my body was going through!
My morning sickness went on until week 11... so pretty much my first trimester I did not feel the best... I was praying my second trimester would come round quick and I would then get that new release of energy everyone talks about and the 'pregnancy glow'...
October is all about my Second Trimester... until then... I hope you enjoyed my story so far...

Hit me a reply below on how your first trimester is going!! I would love to hear...
